Carers

Many people provide care for a loved one without ever identifying themselves as a carer. At Riverbank Medical Centre, we want to ensure that anyone in a caring role receives the support they need.

A carer is anyone, including children, who looks after a relative, partner, or friend who cannot manage day‑to‑day without help due to illness, disability, frailty, mental health needs, or addiction. This care is unpaid, yet it plays an essential role in the wellbeing of the person being supported.

There are over 70,000 carers in West Sussex, and we want to make sure that carers within our patient community are receiving the right support.

If you are a carer and haven’t informed us, please phone reception on 01730 812121 or complete a Contact Us Online form so we can add you to our carers register. Val, our Carers Lead, will then be your point of contact at the surgery and can help signpost you to any support you may need.

Carers Support West Sussex is a charity that supports carers across the county and offers a wide range of services, from counselling to benefits advice. To find out more about the support they provide, please visit their website using the link below.
